Forty-Three Financial Professionals Earn The Distinguished CM&AA Credential
Forty-three financial professionals recently earned the Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) credential in the 4th quarter of 2011, from the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA), joining more than 400 other CM&AA's. To earn the CM&AA credential, accepted candidates must satisfy professional experience and education requirements, attend a rigorous five-day executive educational program, and pass a 4 hour examination. Once earned, the certification must be renewed every three years through additional continuing education requirements. Read more..

Baruch College Alumni Magazine
Holiday time is a time of celebration and bonhomie, and one of the first groups to kick off the revelry was Executives On Campus (EOC), which welcomed over 170 mentors and mentees to its year-end cocktail party on Dec. 8, held in the Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC).
Among the mentors in attendance was Yoav M. Cohen (’83, MBA ’86). “I joined Baruch’s mentoring program a few months ago,” said Cohen, who has already been assigned a yearlong mentee and has also mentored a few other students at a morning advisement session. Read more...

In some TV game shows, contestants are provided with lifelines to use if stress, indecision, unfamiliar circumstances or outside pressures inhibit their ability to answer questions correctly or perform well. Unfortunately, CEOs today are often metaphorically at sea—at risk—and without a lifeline.
In the past few years, the failure rate of CEOs has increased significantly even as average tenure has dropped sharply. Performance issues, incompatibility with increasingly active boards of directors, worldwide recession pressures, government intervention and shareowner activism have combined to threaten the future of longstanding and previously successful executives. What are your strengths in taking on interim CFO, COO, or CEO assignments?
I focus on turnarounds of small to mid-sized companies, and on helping healthy companies grow and prosper. One of my strengths is to quickly grasp the major issues a company faces at a high level. After identifying the major issues, I delve into the nitty-gritty and develop a plan with the senior management team to address each challenge.
